Happy Halloween from the monster makers

Hello all!

We had some misfortune with the internet yesterday when it was time to upload our Friday’s freak feast. So here it is on a Saturday, our final mask for the Halloween dream theme. Hope everyone had an eventful evening last night. We were at an exhibition and saw a few painted faces and a witch, but the festive mood was nearly tangible last night.

Halloween is something celebrated in only a few countries, and not really celebrated in South Africa to the extent that it is in America. Spoke to a girl from America the other day who said the best part about it is the candy but around here we don’t really trick or treat, there’s just a few parties for the freaks to let loose. Although it did seem a little bigger this year in Pretoria to me, not sure if that’s just me. But dressing up is awesome, a little effort yes but it makes things a lot more entertaining, come on, you must agree!
We were reading up a bit on Halloween yesterday as we followed the google doodles and it was all pretty interesting, all hallow’s eve is traditionally a way to make a mockery of mortality/death, hence perhaps the more featured costumes of supernatural murderous things. Interestingly enough, a part I didn’t mention before was that these dream masks happen to follow a bit of an idea of fear of change and death. But won’t let on too much more about it, that’s for another project, something really, really special that we want to do.
Ah wha ha! What fun! Anyhow, hope you all appreciate this last mask, it’s our favourite. Have a lovely Saturday, take it easy. Till next time.
